When the board is at a point where it wants to implement an evaluation system for individual directors, this should be designed specifically for its own organizational needs. The Board Performance Self Evaluation Form is an example of a self-evaluation that can be modified accordingly.
This type of volunteer self-evaluation could be undertaken, for example, halfway through the operational year and then again toward the end of it.
The responses should flow back to a governance committee which would use the information to determine training opportunities for board members as well as identifying members who may be ready to take on more responsibility in the organization.
